Rick, thanks for sharing the link. Would love to be able to buy the hardware to do this right, but I really can't justify it.

And thanks so much for the kind words about my blog. Wish I had more time to dedicate to it these days! So darn busy!

Maria, I love the micro world look of the tilt-shift effect. I've always wondered how this look was achieved. Photochop makes it so easy to try this effect. I just bought a G9 from a photographer last week and asked him about tilt shift. He shoots a number of food shots and uses a Hartblei lens in for his work. One can find Hartblei lenses on fleabay.

I really enjoy your writings and photos.

Thanks, Andy. You should definitely give it a try. With the right image, it works great. And the instructions I linked to are pretty easy to follow. It's a lot of fun.

Lovely results, Maria - I really should try this technique out myself sometime.

Kendrick, I looked at your photos. Very cool. I like the tight focus, but am definitely not willing to invest the $1K+ in a lens.

I played with a tilt shift a few months ago. Hard to get the proper exposure settings, but I had fun with it.

Here's a post with some sample images, http://www.kendrickdisch.com/blog/2008/tilt-shift-picnic/

Your examples look pretty close to the real thing... check out a photog named vincent laforet... he uses tilt shift a lot and he had some great ones from the Olympics in China...

Will ya look at that... I had no idea they were building a new bridge in front of the Hoover Dam. The funny thing is that we flew over there last September when I was down at Red Flag and I saw nothing of the construction: http://prometheus.med.utah.edu/~bwjones/C1311122445/E20080905155317/index.html
