I use 77backup.com (http://www.77backup.com) to backup my data and I am really happy with it... It saved my life when my computer was stolen. I was able to recover all my data in a few hours...

Regards

I use the Genius Bar at Victoria's Garden in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I find them extremley helpful. Some are better than others, but all sympathetic to your problem.

Had a problem with my new Intel Mac and spent 30 hours over 5 days at the bar. They were kind enough to put up a "Reserved Fo Dan" sign for me.

I didn't know you lived in Phoenix. i have a bunch of your books. :-) I gotta agree with the previous poster. SuperDuper and an external FW hard drive is the way to go.

I've been pretty impressed with most of the people I've encountered at the Genius Bars. This is a great benefit of owning a Mac. If you have a problem you can get a no charge evaluation and possibly a no charge repair.

My friend took in a MacBook for evaluation of what seemed like a dead Ethernet port. Turns out that was fixed by zapping the PRAM.

You can readily take control of your backups by purchasing SuperDuper from www.shirt-pocket.com and easily cloning your entire internal computing environment to a bootable external firewire drive. Then, if you need to temprorarily work from the external clone (even attached to another Mac), you can do it; and clonig from the external back to a new hard drive is easy...you would have your exact setup back in action in a few minutes.
